An Autumnal Sunday

Today I started the day with the optimism of a little girl, hoping for the best and planning to take the world. The day is sunny the temperature is great there is so much to do on a fantastic day like this.

Let's start with a nice coffee in the balcony that its full of sunlight.
Let's sit and relax, take some vitamin D, let's listen to the symphony of the of the maple trees while this autumn breeze touches their reddish leaves.

It's such a wonderful autumnal Sunday, let's just be.

See you tomorrow,

All about chairs at the Met

My latest visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in NYC left me impressed with the great collection of chairs from different eras and exhibit under different contexts all over the place.

From the old Egyptian Collection to modem days you will be able to see the similarities of design and the use of ornaments on such a basic piece of decoration.

If you are planning your next trip to New-York, don't forget to include at kest one day at the Met. And as I noticed the chairs as an common element all over the place, you might find another one that catch your attention as well. Let me know which one you found.

Remember that sometimes it's what catches your attention that matters.

Interior Design: Creating your Living Room as if it comes from a Magazine

We would show you that creating each and every room in your house can be done with a magazine flare and with a low budget and have the same effects at the end.

 Source: House and Garden UK

We will take this living room from House & Garden UK magazine and we will show you how you can recreate it in your own living room. You can also make simply some changes in your current living room, where you can only have to include some accessories, maybe change that coffee table or include the carpet. that will depend on what you have and the feeling you would like to bring to the room.

We will go into IKEA website and we will look at items that can recreate this  space with a little bit of money.

The basics items are the big ones, the sofa, the carpet and the tables ( coffee and side tables). With that in your budget you will be able to start working.
You can choose from the simple sofa Klippan Sofa  which prices are around $400 CA to a Kivik one which is the one we are proposing for this arrangements.

After you get the basic items, you just need to include the accessories. Please remember that for the accessories you can go your own way. In order to maintain the look like in the picture, just keep in mind that you must select the color you would like to be the predominant in the area, in this exercise the color is blue.

I hope you have a good time playing with this decor game, there is so much fun creating or recreating a room in your house. I love to go shopping at flea markets, where you will be able to find fantastic details that you can  change, re-paint or just use them as they are in your house. if you live in Montreal you might have to wait for Summer to go to a Flea market, but the wait is worthy.

Enjoy your day, remember Spring is just around the corner and so is Saint Patrick's day. if you love the blue in this post think about green, it's just another great color for the month.

See you tomorrow, stay warm, it's still freezing cold in Montreal.

Getting rid of the snow - The removal process

One thing that will amaze anyone on their winter in Montreal is when they see the whole apparatus in action of the snow removing process. The logistics, coordination and flow of the whole process is impressive.

● Starting from the announcement to the residents of the street s involve 12 hours in advance.
●The announcer with the loud sirens throughout the streets, for those vehicles still parking on the lane to be clean.
● The tow truck to move those vehicles which drivers were deft enough to not hear the noisy sirens for half an hour. ..or were simply not at home at the moment.
● The car with the smiley person to write the parking ticket.
All this just to make sure that the whole street side is empty when the action begins.

And there it is when someone says action;:
●A huge snow removal shows up with a big mouth and roaring like there is no tomorrow. The first one will clear up part of the sidewalks and move all the snow to the middle of the street.
●A small sidewalk removal will come after to clean up the sidewalks more in details and pile it up to the street.
●The big snow removal will pass a second time to pile the rest of whatever snow still remaining on the street.

Now with large pile of snow in the middle of the street.
